Hourly billing has been the norm for law firms since . . . forever. And, despite calls for the death of the billable hour, many law firms still utilize hourly billing as their primary model. That does not, however, mean that there are no alternatives. Different billing models exist and are viable -- even if law firms utilize those in conjunction with the traditional option.
At the very least, you should know what your options are, as more legal consumers demand price certainty.
